Equipment Review: The Titleist ProV1 - New Vs. Refurbished Test

I have to admit that I haven't liked a Titleist golf ball in almost 30 years. I date back to the Professional 384 or whatever that name was back in the early 1990's. While things have changed in the ball game, ever since that fateful day that I switched from the Professional to the Maxfli HT100's I've only looked back on others from the fairway as I out-drove them all day long. Still, there must be something to the ProV craze, right? I mean it's the ball that all others use to measure other balls, so maybe I need to take a hard look at the newer model.

Once again, sticker shock hit when I priced out the nearly $50 a dozen ball, though many retailers have last year's model on clearance for just under $40. Even then, the nearly $3.50 a ball experience couldn't be all that. That's when I found my "refurbished" dozen price at www.lostgolfballs.com and decided it was time for another comparison. I new sleeve of ProV1's vs. a dozen refurbs. The price was almost the same, but would the performance measure up?
