I have to admire the folks at Cut Golf Co and their amazing commitment to deliver a tour quality ball at a completely ridiculous price. Now, I may ave been a bit rough in the video, but I don't want to underestimate or undervalue the Cut Blue golf ball in anyway. This ball simply performs - and that is exactly what most people want from a ball.
The distance of the Cut Blue is spot on. The control is fantastic. The lower, penetrating flight was deadly accurate and the decent angle was spot on. Overall, the Cut Blue performed as well or better than every ball I tested this winter and easily could have (and would have) found a home in my bag for the 2019 Tournament Season.
That leads me to my "issue" that came up and why they won't be in my bag this season - availability... I placed my order as Cut "ran out of stock" on the Blue (though I didn't receive an out of stock notification at any point in time. I actually emailed 4 days after the order went in and then was told that they were back ordered. The balls were expected to be in and shipped before the end of February, but then March came and there was another delay.
Unfortunately, that delay cost me too much time to get the ball in my bag for the first tournament of the season - or at least letting me have enough practice time with the ball before the first tournament of the season. It also brought up the worry of supply issues down the road as well. Would they have the ball available when I needed more, and if not, how long would it take to get them.
Perhaps you think I'm putting too much emphasis in ball selection here, but let's round this out really quickly. The ball is the only piece of gear that you use on EVERY shot you take on the course. From driving off the tee to a 3" tap in putt, that ball is involved in everything you do in every round. We go out and spend thousands of dollars on drivers, irons, bags, etc... yet, when it comes to balls, we grab a dozen of this or that, or worse yet, dig them out of the water and use them on the next hole. It's not rocket science, but it's one of the most important decisions you can make about your equipment and it is one that you should really shop around on before making a choice.
Unpacking all of this into one closing thought, I think the Cut Blue is one of the most stellar values out there for the lower handicap golfer. The performance was stellar, the price is phenomenal and the only issue that I can bring up with the ball is the cover durability. So, if you are in the market for a high performance tour ball, but aren't concerned with the longevity of it as much as the performance, check out the folks at Cut Golf Co and their Blue series ball. You won't be sorry you did, but you'll probably be sorry if you don't.
