Equipment Review - Aris Golf Balls - The Hero

When choosing a golf ball, there is no shortage of choice or confusion. From the good old distance balls that feel like rocks to the latest and straightest from the premium ball manufacturers, choosing the right pill for your game isn't easy. Fortunately, after months of testing different balls in just about every way I could, I have found a clear winner for my bag.

Surviving the cut that included balls from just about anyone that I could get my hands on was a ball that is sold by a smaller company  our of California. This 4 piece "tour" ball, though I hate using that term to describe anything golf, related, is called the Hero and it is available from Aris Golf. Yes, you have probably never heard that name before, but it would be great if you'd hit the link below and check them out.

About two seasons ago, I took a test drive with all three Aris models and found that the Hero was an absolutely phenomenal ball with just one major issue - the cover was too soft for my budget mindedness. You see, at that point, I wanted a lower cost ball that would last a round - which the Hero will not - at least not without some serious scars. Still, I LOVED the ball. As my search continued for this season's tournament ball, I was drawn back to Aris when I found one of them in a box in the garage.

The Hero is an absolute perfect fit for my game. The ball flight is easily adjustable based on how you strike it. The attack angle that I get from it causes it to stick to almost any green around. It's also a fantastic trajectory off the tee and longer clubs as well. It's not too low that it causes distance loss, but it also doesn't balloon too high and cause a lack of roll out. Overall, the Aris Hero just fit my game very well.

If you are in the market for a new ball, check out the three offerings from Aris. They have the distance model - the Scout, the higher performance model - the Hero and one that sits between them in - the Captain.
